The Pierrefonds Cobras U-18 F A captured the gold medal this past weekend (July 3-4) at the Laval International Soccer Tournament. The girls posted a 3-0-0 record in the round-robin portion of the tournament after posting wins over Aylmer (2-0), Golbourne (3-0) and Blainville (2-0). The Cobras then defeated Golbourne in a shootout in the semi-finals (1-1 and 3-2 in penalty kicks) before taking home the gold with a dramatic shootout win over Sherbrooke in the finals (1-1 and 3-2 in penalty kicks). The girls rallied from a 1-0 deficit in the second half of the final game despite suffering from fatigue due to the extreme heat of playing their third match of the day and injuries to four key players.
Members of the winning team include Chris Barragan, Valerie Campanelli, Isabelle Carrier, Stephanie Cloutier, Michele Gauron, Meghan Kelly, Viviane Lafrance, Stefanie Lajoie-Thibodeau, Sydney Larbalestier, Elyse Malo, Ashley Medeiros, Briana Musto, Chelsea Novak, Natalie Pryde, Catherine Scalzo, Annie Talbot, Krista Wright, Pat Malo (coach), Mike Medeiros (assistant coach), Brent Sabino (assistant coach), Lucie Pryde (manager), Russell Pryde (manager).
The Cobras are currently in first place in the competitive U-18 A league with 8 wins and one tie.
