Listen Live FAQ Page

Why did you switch from the old stream format that opened right in my Windows Media Player?

The way we were doing it before, people were actually stealing our stream with an ASX format, and bypassing our advertisers, (and in some cases, actually selling advertisements of their own for our stream).  The other problem this caused is that quite often, listeners would go to our site, and click “Listen Live” and the stream would just not come up. This was because the maximum amount of connections had been reached because of these other sites taking all the connections. We know it’s upsetting, but we HAD to go to this format.  It was the only way to avoid this theft of our copywrited program material.

Why does it play an advertisement before my streaming starts?

Advertising is how we pay for the streaming service. If you are an advertiser looking to take advantage of this service, please contact saleinfo@team990.com

The live streaming worked before, but now when I open the player, it just says ‘Please wait while we confirm stream availability….’ and never loads the stream?

This is because the connections limit is currently maxed out (too many people listening online). With our old site, you just got a cryptic Windows Media Player message about it timing out, and you weren’t sure why. If this happens, click on the “Alternate Stream” below the main one.

I hear the ad but not the live stream (get an error or never finishes buffering) / I suffer from frequent interruptions.

Please check the following:
  • Your firewall (or systems administrator) is allowing outgoing connections on port 443 (secure HTTP).
  • Your firewall and/or internet connections allow for a constant flow of large amounts of data.
  • Check your firewall settings and Internet service provider (or with your systems admin) for some kind of soft or hard 'cap' on bandwidth.
  • If you are sharing the connection please check that no one is consuming excessive bandwidth (e.g. online gaming, file sharing, downloading, Internet Telephony ..etc)
The player does not load.

Here is a general checklist:
  • Ensure that you are behind a highspeed internet connection (e.g.DSL, Cable, Satellite)
  • If the player window does not pop-up, check your popup blocker settings.
  • Ensure that JavaScript is enabled (consult your browser's help)
  • If this does not help please check the next section for browser specific instructions.
I am using Internet Explorer

Please check the following:
  • ActiveX is enabled. Ask your systems administrator about this or search online for "Enabling ActiveX Internet Explorer"
  • Ensure that you are running Internet Explorer Version 6 (or higher) with Windows Media Player version 9 (or higher)
I am using another browser (e.g. Firefox, Safari, Opera)

Please check the following:
  • Your browser has the flash player installed. If you are not sure go to http://www.adobe.com, then click on "Get Adobe Flash Player" and follow the onscreen instructions.
  • Try upgrading your browser to the latest version. In Firefox go to Help - Check for updates
  • Please note that we have tested our player only with Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari and Opera
