THE TEAM 990 SHOW HOST BLOGS
I deserve it. I knew it when I did it.
I deserve it. I knew it when I did it. I laid points with the Detroit Lions as favourites. Knew it was a bad thing to do yet I did it. Self inflicted wound. We are going to call those mistakes "Plaxicos".
Has there ever been a more hyped yet under achieving quarterback then Jay Cutler? I guess Josh McDaniels is smarter than everyone knew. Nevermind the inevitable Cutler interception to end the game, he missed three wide open receivers on deep patterns that could have completely changed that game. Once again, the loss is entirely on him. I guess the Bears still have some searching to do to find their saviour.
Mike Singletary now joins the legion of coaches who really don't have a clue. He uses is last challenge on a 2nd down play in which the Packers were marked short of the first down. I still don't know what he was challenging. On the next play, Green Bay may have fumbled the ball. We will never know, the Niners were out of challenges. If anybody knows what he was challenging I would love to hear it. The announcers certainly couldn't figure it out.
The Dallas Cowboys have scored 14 points in two weeks. Both coming in the dying minutes of the game. It was all they needed to beat the Skins. The Cowboys will probably be in the playoffs. If anybody thinks this team is going anywhere come playoff time, I have an Andy Reid clock game clock management book I would like to sell you.
I have always had teams that I just get wrong every time I pick them. Houston and San Diego being two of them. I have never had a team that I just seemed to nail. I have these Bengals nailed. I seem to feel when they will cover and feel when they don't. Yesterday was the ultimate in let down games for them and they proved it. Some teams just don't have it in their psyche to be laying points.
Of all the really bad teams in the league, and there seems to be many, it looks like the Kansas City Chiefs might have the best short term upside. They compete most weeks, have some talent at quarterback and now a receiver in Chris Chambers. But, I think it mainly comes down to coaching. Todd Haley is a good coach. Even though he seems to be a tough guy who gets in players faces, his no nonsense approach seems to be working. The Chiefs are a team you can look at down the stretch taking some points. They are also a team coming off back to back wins that you might get some short numbers against, and they are still young and learning. I think the Chiefs will be in a couple good spots, for and against in the coming weeks. Also, the Steelers are just not the same team without Troy Palomalou. I am wondering whether there is another player in the league that has such an impact on his team when he is not there. Oh, there might be another, Peyton Manning. We have just never found out.
Bill Bellichek is an A**hole. He just is. 3rd and 6, up 17 with 26 secs left. He goes in shotgun and throws deep to stop the clock. What was the point? Jets had one timeout. Was he hoping the Jets would get the back door cover? What was the point of throwing that pass? There is no reason at all for calling that play other than he is an A**hole.
Including Thursday, the dogs had another good day going 9-5-1. That is three winning weeks in a row for the dogs as they build on their season lead. Unders beat overs 9-4-2 for the week.
